Biochar for Water Pollution Control: From Sensing to Decontamination

نویسندگان

چکیده

Biochar, a biologically originated carbon-rich material derived from the oxygen-limited pyrolysis of biomass, is usually added to soil for its enrichment, increasing water-holding capacity and pH. This revolutionary thus contributes reduction in overall environmental impact mitigation climate change. Due beneficial properties this material, especially electrochemical applications (large active surface area, conductivity, etc.), biochar demonstrates an extremely high adsorption detection micropollutants simultaneously. However, finding optimal conditions adsorptive prepared biochar-based sensors crucial. The efficiency should be sufficient remove pollutants, even complex matrices; on other hand, properties, such as conductivity charge transfer resistance, are key factors concerning sensing ability. Therefore, balanced design can ensure both usability effectiveness sensing. To enhance levels electroactivity that already high, pre- or post-modification performed. Such recycled carbon-based materials could promising candidates among platforms. In study, different modifications presented. Utilizing important it possible create bifunctional platform removing water systems simultaneously confirming purification via their detection. We reviewed use effective removal methods matrices.

Synthesis of Novel Magnetic Biochar Using Microwave Heating for Removal of Arsenic from Waste Water

Novel magnetic biochar has been successfully synthesized by using microwave technique, using discarded materials such as Empty Fruit Bunch (EFB). The optimized conditions for the best novel magnetic biochar synthesis are at 900 w reaction power, 20 min reaction time, and impregnation ratio 0.5 (biomas:FeCl3) The details physical and chemical analyses of novel magnetic biochar wer...

Biology and Water Pollution Control

The Gm and In V allotypes of serum are inherited in Mendelian fashion and their existence imposes important constraints on current theories of immunoglobulin synthesis. The incidences of particular factors vary markedly with different population groups, a fact of anthropological interest. In medico-legal investigations allotypes can aid in cases of disputed parentage (both paternal and maternal...

Uncertaintv and the Markets for Water Pollution Control

Market-based instruments for pollution control have received large attention during the last years due to increasing costs of pollution abatement and the need for more flexibility among emitting sources to comply with environmental regulations. The evidence, however, has shown some implementation problems with such instruments. A classic example of such problems is the Fox River permit program,...

Soil and Water Conservation Zones for Pollution Control

This paper reports the preliminary results obtained from an FAO/IAEA coordinated research project (CRP) involving eight countries. Results obtained are discussed with respect to sources and sinks of water and nutrients in water conservation zones that help farmers to use water when it is required. Three types of water conservation zones, namely farm ponds, wetlands and riparian buffer zones wer...

Agricultural best management practices for water pollution control: current issues

From the first awareness of agricultural sources of water pollution in the US in the 1960s, we finally see in the 1990s a commitment at the national level for agricultural non-point source (NPS) pollution control. This has been occasioned by a growing awareness that, with point sources of some pollutants largely controlled by waste-water treatment, greater attention must be paid to NPS pollutio...
